About Michael Rafferty
As a Partner and Managing Director at UPSTACK, Michael leverages strategic consulting experience to provide clients with best-in-class service and professional expertise in designing, deploying and managing technology solutions.
Michael draws on extensive experience based on more than two decades in telecom, starting as a senior sales executive at Cable & Wireless in 1994 in White Plains, N.Y. Rafferty formed telecom agency Vanguard Network Services in 1997. During this early period, he often partnered on projects with fellow agent Thomas Luciano; they officially joined forces in 2000 with the formation of DVP Technologies.
Based in Connecticut, Michael’s expertise includes network and cloud infrastructure, contact center-as-a-service (CCaaS), unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS), Ethernet WAN, SD-WAN, virtual desktops, desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) and managed hosting. Michael has sourced and sold technology solutions to many large enterprises, financial institutions, legal firms, and companies in high-growth PE-backed scenarios.
One of Michael’s most successful projects was helping a client establish and streamline technology costs as they were experiencing rapid growth through acquisitions. The company needed to set a technology cost per employee to meet its scalability objectives. Michael and team helped the client design, procure, implement and standardize a variety of solutions, including IP network services, UCaaS and CCaaS licensing, IaaS, DaaS and hosted software. The technology stack was implemented across four separate companies, spanning 200 locations in 16 states, with nearly 8,000 corporate employees. These efforts resulted in a cost savings of more than 40 percent and provided the company with a repeatable employee budget line item appropriate for scalability.
Michael has a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.
