Out with the Legacy Hardware and In with the Cloud

UPSTACK connects Sequoyah Electric with a customized cloud solution to improve work-from-home and in-the-field systems

Summary

Since 1988, Sequoyah Electric has built a reputation for innovation and customer dedication for electrical design-build and construction needs. Their expertise ranges from complex, multi-phased design build projects to technically challenging industrial and low voltage installations. Services include electrical engineering, datacenter and server room installations, structured cabling, and wireless networks.

The Challenge

Like every company at the start of 2020, the sudden global pandemic forced everyone to suddenly work from home. Sequoyah Electric, having only operated with an office-centric environment, was immediately confronted with a legacy phone system, a confused workforce, and the unknown security challenges of a work-from-home environment. Compounding the problem, Sequoyah had to address incumbent vendors, plagued by service quality, reliability, and scalability issues.

“UPSTACK not only lowered our costs, but also saved us tons of time which allowed our team to focus on other critical projects.

Director of Information Technology, Sequoyah

We developed a customized cloud solution which leveraged existing Microsoft licensing, utilized Microsoft Teams to reduce training burden and time, and eliminated unnecessary desktop hardware. In the process, all legacy, on-premises equipment (the old PBX) were eliminated. With UPSTACK’s help, we performed a multi-vendor analysis to identify the ideal partner for Sequoyah’s future, bringing a qualified field of 36 providers and presenting the best 2
