About Brad Carrell

Brad Carrell, a technology expert with nearly three decades of experience, specializes in sourcing, engineering and delivering vendor-agnostic IT solutions to businesses of all sizes. As an UPSTACK Partner and Managing Director, Brad leverages UPSTACK’s growing advisory team, supplier relationships and extensive resources to support organizations with transformative solutions that drive growth.

Brad began his telecom career in 1996 and spent nearly 20 years as an account executive selling wireline and wireless networking solutions at companies such as AeroComm, Sprint (now T-Mobile) and Time Warner Cable (now Spectrum Enterprise). In 2012, Brad embarked on a new mission to offer technology services that align with customer needs rather than provider sales quotas by forming Strategic Telecom Partners (STP). The vendor-neutral IT and telecommunications consulting firm helps clients accurately match multilocation IT infrastructure project challenges with optimal multivendor solutions. Working with STP offers businesses instant strategic relationships and detailed knowledge of solutions capabilities of more than 300 global, national, regional, local and niche providers. But it doesn’t stop there; STP doubles down on the “day two” customer experience to ensure customers realize maximum value.

One of Brad’s most successful deployments was an MPLS network upgrade for a client with more than 250 sites and monthly spending above $300,000. Brad and his team collaborated with the client as though they were a part of their IT department, assisting with design consultation, supplier recommendations, procurement, contracting, implementation and weekly ongoing support. Brad recommended and implemented SD-WAN using dedicated internet with symmetrical best-effort backups, enabling dynamic path optimization. As a result, the client achieved seamless redundancy across locations, reduced monthly spend by more than $100,000, decreased latency for all network traffic by up to 75 percent and improved speeds by 20-40 times. Additionally, the new network solution paved the way for the client’s cloud transformation journey by decreasing latency by 50-75 percent to their cloud applications, making it possible for the company to move collaboration and productivity applications, like Microsoft Teams and Office 365, to the cloud.

Brad attended the University of Kansas and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
